Barre is a method of training inspired by ballet and pilates. The focus of which is to target and isolate small muscle groups using no or low weights with high repetitions within a small range of movement.
This type of strength training combined with static stretching throughout the class will work toward toned and lengthened definition. The major benefits of barre include improved posture, muscle definition, weight loss and increased flexibility. If you’re coming back to exercise after a long break, due to it’s low impact nature, it’s a great place to start.
You’ll be taken through a short mobility and dynamic stretch warm up followed by a stint focusing on arm definition, using small weights and including isometric holds. From there you’ll take it to the barre to focus on lengthening and toning thighs and glutes. From here, you’ll finish with a series of core exercises to really cement the foundations of a strong a healthy physique.
